UK Diving
Although the United Kingdom and Ireland might not immediately spring to mind when thinking of exotic dive destinations, the waters surrounding these ancient nations are something of a revelation. Hundreds of years of merchant seafaring have left a rich wreck heritage, the huge tidal ranges and adrenaline-pumping drift dives have to be seen to be appreciated, and fauna ranging from tiny seahorses to gigantic basking sharks all mean the underwater realm here is rich with surprises. The United Kingdom and Ireland effectively occupy two large islands off northwestern continental Europe. England, Scotland and Wales share one, while the island of Ireland sits just to the west, home to Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic. There are almost 24,000 kilometres/15,000 miles of coastline notable for their variety: sandy and shingle beaches, crags, rocks, and cliffs abound.

Shipwrecks are a fascination for all. Most become time capsules, stopping the clock the instant they submerge beneath the waves. There are a multitude of wrecks ranging from 10 metres to 100 metres to satisfy the needs of all levels of diving along the East coast. Some are war time wrecks like the UC-39, UC -75 and HMS Falmouth.Other wrecks are the huge 14924 ton and 162 metres in length luxury liner The Pilsudski or the 1879 ton Steamer the Cadmus or how about the fabulous eerie Lightship. All three wrecks featured in Divernet Magazine. There are literally 100’s of wrecks along the North East Coast.Wrecks along this stretch of water are prolific with sea life and can be dived at most states of tide. But don’t just take our word for it, Jump into your dry suit and take a look for yourself.
